Unessential Coffee - Rwanada, Natural

A very special coffee release! A collaboration between Yamabiko and one of our favourite bands, Unessential Oils. 

When we started this project we knew that we needed an expressive coffee to live up to the lush, and groovy sounds of Unessential Oils. We wanted something that felt like a cold beer in a hot bath. Then we found it, a stand out coffee from Rwanda, jam packed with tropical fruit notes, with a heavy mouthfeel that is boozy and reminds us of spiced rum, with a lingering sweet finish with hints of dried mango. 

This is our first time offering coffee from the Ngoma washing station on the shores of Lake Kivu, specifically this lot is from the group of farmers on Bikunda Island. The coffee is naturally processed and dried on African raised beds, creating a depth of flavour that is not matched on our menu. Fans of Elle will love this coffee.

If you haven't listened to Unessential Oils yet, you'll want to soon. Unessential Oils is the new project from Montreal based Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals). His new music project mixes influences from jazz, folk, and rock with elements of improvisation, guitar solos that are heavy and yet delicate, and an infectious rhythm that carried you through the entire album. We had the pleasure of seeing the band live in Sutton in 2024, and there will be a special show for this coffee release in Sutton, Saturday May 31. Don't miss it!
